My name is Laurin Threatt (pronounced like three with a t on the end). I am totally new to blogging but decided it is a good way to meet people and maybe find some others who have similar interests and want to meet new people.

 To give a few particulars about myself: I am a retired sheep farmer and church organist., mother of 4 and grandmother of 4! I love being a Mother and even more being a Grandmother!  I'm 68, been married for 46 years, have lived on a farm, and at the coast and learned to sail. I met my husband when he sold me a motorcycle, and still love to ride, although he thinks he is too old to handle one. We moved back to the Raleigh area 3 years ago when we were no longer sailing. I wanted to be where there is more to do and more going on.

 I have gotten into photography and have a website of my photos: gypsycartphotos.com. The name Gypsy Cart came from the Wind In The Willows book. If you haven't read it or seen the British movie about the book, it is well worth the time!

I love to travel and hope to meet others who like to also and would like to travel together. I have traveled in the US and Europe and The Philippines and love being "on the road"! I've loved to travel to new places, meet new people, try new foods, and learn about other cutures as long as I can remember! I've done RVing, tent camping, canoeing, hiking, and love being out-of-doors as well as seeing city life in all sorts of areas. I'm up for just about anything, except mountain climbing! I am hoping to meet others who like having new experiences but don't necessarily want to have to spend a great deal of money to do so. For several years, I have been traveling with a group of friends from New Bern who like doing 3-4 night trips, but I am very open to going farther afield for longer periods and would be glad to do the planning and make the arrangements, if anyone is willing. I do the planning for the New Bern group, including transportation, accomodations, and sight-seeing!

I also love playing cards and board games and would love to start a group that wants to meet often to have gaming nights. I love casinos and horse racing and watching old movies, especially mysteries and ones about World War II.

Since my older son and grandchildren are here right now, I will close out for now. I hope I can meet new friends and maybe even reconnect with some past ones.
